Left Front today asked the West Bengal government to order an inquiry into the circumstances leading to firing by a constable of the Tripura police causing serious injuries to a CPI(M) worker at a polling booth on the city's outskirts during civic poll in the state.
"The administration should probe under what circumstances the policemen opened fire seriously injuring Arabinda (Bapi) Dhar, a CPI(M) worker," the Left Front said in a release.
It said a complaint had been lodged with the local police station in this regard.
A Tripura State Rifles personnel, manning the polling booth located at Kendua Girls' high school at Patuli in South 24-Parganas district, opened three rounds of fire, injuring the CPI(M) worker.
The Front alleged that the TC and the Congress indulged in violence in some areas of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and in other municipalities to create unrest and disrupt the polling.
The Front claimed that two CPI(M) workers were injured in bomb attack by Congress activists at Metiaburuz.
