Live fuse defused near army ammunition depot in Anantnag

Jammu and Kashmir Police today recovered a fuse near an Army ammunition depot, which went up in flames in 2007 in Anantnag.
    
According to a police spokesperson, a live fuse was spotted in a field in village Nowgam, 70 km from here in this morning and was subsequently defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad of the local police.
    
Nowgam is located in the close vicinity of Khundroo Army Ammunition field depot, which went up in flames in August 2007, leaving over two dozen persons, mostly fire services personnel of the army dead.
    
Hundreds of fuses and shells from the camp flew to adjoining villages within 1.5 km radius as a result of the fire in the depot. While most of the shells and fuses were defused by the experts, the recovery of fuses and shells continue to haunt the villagers even today.
