LoC trade touches Rs 272 cr since opening

Since the border trade between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir was started in October 2008, the volume has crossed Rs 272 crore, the government told the assembly in a written reply today.

Commerce and industry minister Surjeet Singh Salathia said total trade volume through two points of Salamabad in Baramulla district and Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch district amounted to Rs 272.13 crore since cross border trade began on October 21, 2008.

Out of this, imports stood at Rs 160.21 crore, while exports constituted Rs 111.92 crore, he said. Giving further details, he said, while goods worth Rs 117.39 crore were traded via Salamabad, the contribution of Chakan-da-Bagh is valued at Rs 154.74 crore.
