Kiren Rijiju is not amused.

Minister of state for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has lashed out at Congress for accusing Election Commission of being biased. In a series of tweets, Kiren Rijiju slammed the Congress for resorting to double standards and recollected a personal experience where he felt hard done.

Rijiju says that in 2009 LS, he lost very narrowly by only 1314 votes. However he claims, there was rigging involved as 104% polling in his constituency. However his demand for repolling was strongly objected by Congress. He then claimed that BJP never interferes with constitutional bodies, as counter to accusation of EC acting on BJP's behest. In a subsequent tweet, Kiren Rijiju known for his passionate speeches said that his blood boils when Congress accuses Election Commission.

On the final day of polling in Gujarat on Thursday, the Congress and the BJP bitterly fought each other before the Election Commission (EC), with the Opposition party even accusing the constitutional body of being a ‘kathputli’ (puppet) and a ‘bandhak’ (hostage) of the ruling party and the Prime Minister’s office.

The BJP shot back and said the Congress was being petty for calling the EC ‘names’. The Congress’ anger stemmed from the EC allegedly not acting immediately on its complaint of Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding an alleged roadshow with BJP flags in Ahmedabad on the polling day.  The EC also gave a clean chit to PM Modi for launching submarine Kalvari Submarine in Mumbai on the polling day. The poll body said the action does not come under the purview of the Model Code of Conduct and thus does not violate it.

However, the Commission said it is examining the complaint on the PM’s ‘roadshow’. “It is under examination and the Commission will soon give its decision,” the EC said.
