LPG cylinder blast triggers panic in Delhi

An explosion due to leakage of gas from an LPG cylinder in a house opposite a government hospital in Delhi triggered panic in Nehru Colony, police said.

The house is owned by a retired Delhi Vidyut Board employee Subhash Chandra Arora, 68. He stays with his wife, widowed daughter and her children.

"A refrigerator and a gas cylinder was placed in a small room in the house and apparently there was a gas leak. There was some spark from the compressor which led to the explosion," a senior police official said.

No one was injured in the incident, the official added.
