Justice M M Sundresh, before whom the petition filed by R Dhuriyian, BJP's Villupuram district youth wing General Secretary came up, also directed the outfit to give a reply within four weeks.

The Madras High Court on Tuesday issued a notice to a Villupuram-based outfit 'Modi Parishad' on a petition seeking to restrain it from using BJP's lotus symbol.

Justice M M Sundresh, before whom the petition filed by R Dhuriyian, BJP's Villupuram district youth wing General Secretary came up, also directed the outfit to give a reply within four weeks.

Dhuriyian submitted that a group of people not related in any way to BJP had on September 17 put out advertisements in newspapers on inauguration of their office at Villupuram where they used BJP's election symbol lotus.

Stating that no one is not entitled to use this symbol, which was allotted to BJP by the Election Commission, the petitioner alleged that the Parishad had not got permission to use the same. Dhuriyan said he was constrained to file this petition as there was no response from the authorities to the complaint given by him.
