NEW DELHI: A man has been arrested for killing a woman bartender, with whom he allegedly had an affair, at her rented accommodation in south Delhi, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Naveen, was held on Tuesday for gunning down the 25-year-old married woman at her Dakshin Puri home in Ambedkar Nagar. A German made pistol and eight live cartridges were recovered from him.
Deputy commissioner of police (Southeast Delhi) Ajay Chaudhary said Naveen came into contact with the victim at a pub at the PVR Priya Complex in Vasant Vihar, where the woman worked as bartender. The police have not revealed the victim's name.
"Naveen visited the deceased's home on Nov 27 and had physical relations with her. Later a heated argument took place between them on some financial issue. When the argument escalated, she tried to shout and called her husband's name after locking the room from inside," Chaudhary said.
"Enraged by this, Naveen took out his pistol and fired at her head behind the right ear and fled in his car after locking the door from outside," he added.
The victim was later taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where she was pronounced dead, police said.
