Man who stuck posters threatening Kanhaiya Kumar arrested

The Delhi police on Monday arrested Adarsh Kumar for posting a threatening poster pamphlet aimed at JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar. Through the poster that was posted outside the press club of India, Adarsh, who claims to be the president of the Purvanchal Sena, had announced a reward of Rs 11 lakh to anyone who "shoots" Kanhaiya.

Adarsh was detained by the New Delhi police earlier in the day and the questioning lasted for more than three hours. He was officially arrested in the evening and has been charged under sections 116, 505, 506, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code. All sections charged are unbailable. "Sharma has been arrested under charges of defacement of public property, abetment of offence punishable with imprisonment, public mischief, criminal intimidation and forgery," a senior police official stated.

However, according to police officials, investigation regarding sections 468 and 471 – that deal with forgery, are ongoing and will be added once more information is known. "Investigations are ongoing and once the evidence is collected and on record further sections may be added," said Jatin Narwal, DCP New Delhi. Adarsh has been taken to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital for his medical.

On Saturday, posters announcing a reward of Rs. 11 Lakh for shooting dead Kanhaiya Kumar were seen posted on walls near the Press Club of India. The posters were also seen near bus stops and metro stations in the New Delhi district. On the same day, the police registered a case of defacement of property.

One person, who was allegedly involved in sticking the posters, was questioned soon after and other sections were later added in the FIR.
