Many nations are supporting India's permanent candidature in the UN Security Council as the country is emerging as a global economic power, external affairs minister SM Krishna said today.
"With India emerging big on the global economic stage, an overwhelming number of countries are supporting India's permanent candidature in the UN Security Council," he told a gathering at Arya Vysya Mahasabha Centenary celebrations in Bangalore.
India's emerging strength and its power equations were responsible for this, besides its huge human resource, he said.
Highlighting the importance of India in the global scenario Krishna said, heads of developed countries including Britain, US, China and France have "rushed to India in the last five months, whereas earlier we used to go to these countries".
"Now leaders of these developed countries are coming to us, seeking our help to create jobs in their own country as India's core competence now is in the field of generating new jobs in foreign countries," he said.
