Maoists threw a grenade and damaged a high tension pillar of Purulia pump storage project at Bagmundi today, police said.
The damage to the high tension pillar affected power supply to about 50 villages in the neighbourhood of the hydroproject.
CPI(Maoist) posters demanding supply of power to Bagmundi, a tribal area, was found near the spot, the police added.
