Marginal rise in burn cases this Diwali in Ahmedabad

While 661 calls pertaining to Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) were recorded on New Year's Day last year (06-11-2010), 721 cases were recorded on this New Year's Day.

A marginal rise was observed this Diwali in the number of burn injuries and other emergencies tackled by the 108 Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) services in this festive week. While 661 calls pertaining to Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) were recorded on New Year's Day last year (06-11-2010), 721 cases were recorded on this New Year's Day. The assault cases too rose as 721 calls were made to EMRI as against 661 last year.

Cases related to acute pain in the abdomen saw a fall, as 235 were registered as against 252 last year. There was also a decrease in the number of cases pertaining to unconsciousness and respiration.

Overall there was a decline in number of cases as 2,469 cases were registered on this Diwali day as against 2347 in the previous year, while a total of 2900 cases were recorded in the
current year as against last year's 2,914.
