I am not a litigant in the Ayodhya case. Let the litigant participate in talks. I have no right to carry on dialogues on their behalf with anyone on the issue. I am dissociating myself from the ongoing talks, says Maulana Salman Nadvi

Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravishankar's efforts to mediate in the land dispute in Ayodhya has received a jolt after expelled executive member of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Maulana Salman Hasani Nadvi withdrew himself from the ongoing talks.

"I am not a litigant in the Ayodhya case. Let the litigant participate in talks. I have no right to carry on dialogues on their behalf with anyone on the issue. I am dissociating myself from the ongoing talks," said Maulana Salman Nadvi on Friday. Significantly, he announced his exit from talks only after a day of his meeting with the Spiritual leader in Lucknow on Thursday.

After the disassociation, Maulana Nadvi has supported the stand taken by the AIMPLB on the Ayodhya dispute. "Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri mosque land dispute case is no more in the board's agenda. Let the Supreme Court decide the case. We will wait for its judgment and follow the same," he said.

Maulana Nadvi, who was expelled from the AIMPLB for supporting the Ram temple construction and shifting of Babri mosque, has also hinted of his return to the Muslim Board but with a rider. "I am ready to return to the AIMPLB if four members, including Asaduddin Owaisi, Kamal Farooqui, Yusuf Machala and Qasim Rasool, are removed from the Board," he said.

Maulana Nadvi's U-turn has given a big jolt to the mediating efforts of Sri Sri Ravishankar. The Spiritual leader, however, remained unperturbed with the sudden development of the Maulana's exit amid the crucial talks. "People come and go but that doesn't make any difference to the ongoing talks for a noble cause," he reacted.

Maulana Nadvi had met the Art of Living founder along with an eight-member delegation on February 8 at Bengaluru with a formula of shifting the Babri mosque and handing over the disputed land to Hindus for the construction of Ram temple. Taking serious note of his 'misadventure', the AIMPLB had expelled him from the Board on February 9 during Board's meeting in Hyderabad.

‘NO DIFFERENCE’

The spiritual leader remained unperturbed with the sudden development. “People come and go but that doesn’t make any difference to the ongoing talks for a noble cause,” he said.
