The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has approved the third section of the corridor, stretching from Modinagar North to Meerut South. This newly approved 8 km section will increase the operational length of the rapid rail to 42 km, surpassing half of the planned 80 km Delhi-Meerut corridor, which aims for completion by mid-2025.

According to the report, an official from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) stated that the new section will reduce travel time from Sahibabad to Meerut South to around 30 minutes. The state and central governments have been informed of the completed work, and the inauguration decision is expected soon.

Meerut South will be the first station within Meerut district on the rapid rail corridor and will integrate with local metro services. The Namo Bharat corridor will feature 13 stations in Meerut, with four dedicated to rapid rail and nine to the metro system.

Additionally, NCRTC has constructed the state's largest parking facility at Meerut South, accommodating 1,200 vehicles over 13,000 square metre.
