Meet Narendra Modi's 'social media guru' Hiren Joshi

Narendra Modi's ascent as the prime minister of India has been credited to his oratory skills, strong anti-Congress wave as well as social media revamping and usage. There's hardly any doubt that Modi's social media usage to reach out to millenials has worked wonders for the grand party as youngsters thronged to see what their PM is upto using Facebook, Twitter and Modi's blogs. 

His tweets in general have had strong impact as he communicated with major global leaders after BJP's win in Lok Sabha elections 2014. On his recent trip to Japan to meet Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, Narendra Modi tweeted in Japanese

And these tweets were researched for and composed by 44-year-old Hiren Joshi. According to a newspaper report, Joshi has been managing Modi's blogs, websites, and Twitter and FB accounts. He managed to send out these tweets in Japanese with help from the Indian embassy in Japan and a translation tool. 

Here's a brief profile of Joshi, who has accentuated Narendra Modi's digital presence: 

*Hiren Joshi is an electronics engineer from Pune with a PhD from the Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management, Gwalior.

*He was an assistant professor at the Manikya Lal Verma Textile and Engineering College, Bhilwara.

*He has over 18-years of teaching experience before he was hand-picked by Modi to handle his digital presence in 2008.

*As Modi's OSD, he used a special software that produced analytical charts mapping Modi's time spent, avoiding duplicate meetings and also charted out his itiniery.  

*He was responsible to make sure that tweets were translated in various languages. Narendra Modi launched his twitter accounts in Urdu, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Tamil and Bengali.

*He made narendramodi.in available in Sanskrit and Hindi.

*Joshi gives Narendra Modi a daily report on online activities at 11.30 pm and also shortlists 100 of the thousands of messages marked to Modi on his social media accounts.

*He keeps an eye on the birthdays or deaths of important people to ensure appropriate messages are sent from the Modi's handle.
