KOLKATA: A day after Jyoti Basu ruled out a snap as a result of UPA-Left stand-off on Indo-US nuclear deal, another party stalwart from West Bengal Biman Bose on Tuesday said he did not see the possibility of such an eventuality.

"It may not happen," Bose, who is the state party secretary, said.

To another question, Bose said, "Why does the question of fall of the government come when it has been decided that there will be discussion in parliament on the nuclear accord without vote under rule 193?"

When told that Manmohan Singh government would be reduced to a minority if Left parties withdrew support, he replied without elaboration, "Those things will have to be discussed".

Bose was speaking to newsmen before leaving for Delhi to attend an emergency meeting of the party's central committee there on August 23-24 to discuss the situation arising out the face-off on the nuclear deal.
