Militants fired at the house of a widow at a village in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, the second attack on the family after 2004 when the woman's husband was shot dead by them.
No one was injured in the firing late last night at the house of Guddi Devi in Layrouth village of Bhaderwah tehsil, official sources said.
A group of four persons tried to barge into the house.
When the family did not open the gate, they fired at the house and attempted to break the window, the sources said adding, as the family raised an alarm, the militants escaped.
Police have launched a cordon and search operation in the area to track them down, the sources said adding, Guddi's husband Sunder Lal was killed by militants in 2004 suspecting him to be an army informer.
At the time of attack, Guddi Devi was in the house along with her two sisters, son-in-law and his sister. All were safe.
