The minimum temperature remained upto five degrees Celsius above normal in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and capital Chandigarh as the cold conditions abated further in the region today.
    
The minimum temperature stood between one to five degrees C above normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the Met office said here.
    
Amritsar was coldest in the plains with a low of six degrees Celsius which was one notch above normal.
    
Rohtak settled at a low of 6.7 degrees C, and the minimum temperature at Ambala was 7.5 degrees C.
    
Among the other places, Patiala had a low of eight degrees C, a notch above normal followed by 8.4 degrees Celsius each at Chandigarh and Karnal.
    
Chandigarh remained a notch above normal and the temperature was a degree below normal at Karnal.
    
The minimum temperature at Ludhiana was 9.5 degrees C which was two notches above normal whereas the mercury settled at 11.7 degrees Celsius at Hisar which was five notches above normal.
    
The Met office forecast mist or haze in the morning and at night at several places in the region during the next 48 hours.
