After the Lok Sabha election results, internal conflicts within the Uttar Pradesh BJP have surfaced, leading to a series of meetings from Lucknow to Delhi. Amid this BJP turmoil, Samajwadi Party's national president and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has extended a "monsoon offer." He posted on the social media platform 'X,' stating: 'Monsoon offer: 100 lao, Sarkaar banao!'
This is not the first time Akhilesh Yadav has made such an offer to Keshav Prasad Maurya. Whenever Keshav Maurya expresses discontent with his party or its leaders, Akhilesh extends an offer. Akhilesh once said that if Maurya could bring 100 legislators, the Samajwadi Party would support him in forming a government.
In response to Akhilesh Yadav's statement, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya asserted that the BJP has strong organisations and governments both at the state and national levels. He called the SP's PDA (Progressive Democratic Alliance) a deception. He claimed that a return of SP's goonda raj (lawlessness) in UP is impossible and that the BJP would repeat its 2017 assembly election performance in the 2024 elections.
The internal discord within the BJP surfaced during a recent state executive committee meeting. Deputy CM Keshav Maurya emphasized that the organization is bigger than the government and that the pain of party workers is his pain. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pointed out that overconfidence had harmed the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. He noted, "While the percentage of votes in favor of BJP in 2014 and subsequent elections has remained steady in 2024, vote shifting and overconfidence have hurt our expectations."
BJP National President JP Nadda summoned Deputy CM Keshav Maurya to Delhi. According to sources, Nadda emphasized that the government and the organization in UP should work together and that there should be no statements suggesting internal strife. UP BJP President Bhupendra Chaudhary was also called to Delhi. Chaudhary submitted a review of the party's loss in UP to the leadership, detailing the reasons for the defeat in a 15-page report.
The BJP's focus has now shifted to the upcoming by-elections for 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh. The party is actively preparing for these elections. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a meeting with the cabinet ministers assigned to these constituencies to discuss preparations for the by-elections.
