Most of the victims of a stampede in a government school in North-East Delhi today died due to suffocation and head injuries.

"Most of those who died in the incident lost their lives due to suffocation and head injuries," a senior official at Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital here said.

Seven girls and 32 other students were injured.

GTB medical superintendent OP Kalra said, "Five students are on life support system while others are relatively stable and conscious and are being attended by neuro-surgeons and orthopaedic surgeons.
