Mumbai Airport receives bomb threat, parts of terminal 2 evacuated briefly

The parts of T2 terminal of Mumbai Airport have been evacuated due to a security threat on Saturday. The threat call was received between 1 pm and 1.30 pm.

The threat call has not impacted the operations due to runway repair work at Mumbai Airport. Due to operations work, the runway remain shut between 11 am and 5 pm on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday till March 31, 2019.

The operation will resume at 5pm and the passegers who have their flight starting 5pm are being allowed inside the airport.

A Mumbai airport official said,, “A Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened to assess a threat call and has been declared as nonspecific. However, as a mitigation measure, the committee has decided to evacuate Terminal 2 Level 4 Pre S H A, Airline offices L3 and meters and greeters area L2.”

The Mumbai Airport officials further added that they have also informed the Sahara Police station and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) that overlooks security at Mumbai Airport.
