Two more persons, including a police constable of Mumbai police, have been arrested by the LT Marg police on Friday for allegedly decamping with Rs27 lakh belonging to a Zaveri Bazaar-based businessman.

Two more persons, including a police constable of Mumbai police, have been arrested by the LT Marg police on Friday for allegedly decamping with Rs27 lakh belonging to a Zaveri Bazaar based businessman, bringing the total arrested to six.

“Subhash Babar, 42 and Ayaz Qureshi, 28 were booked for cheating and criminal breach of trust by the LT Marg police,” a source said and added that Subhash Babar was attached to Meghwadi police station in West Region. Both were remanded to police custody till Febuary 20 by the holiday court on Saturday.

However, defence lawyer KN More, appearing on behalf of Babar, said his client was falsely implicated based on the statement of the co-accused arrested by the police. Senior police inspector Avinash Sonawane of LT Marg police station refused to comment.
