Four ladies and one man who were stuck under the debris were rescued after a building in Mumbai's Girgaon area collapsed on Thursday night.

A backside portion Vasudeo Building and one portion of adjoining Bhagirathi building in Mumbai's Girgaum area collapsed on Thursday evening. Family of four ladies and one male were rescued by the Mumbai Fire Brigade. Trapped victims were rescued from windows safely.

However, debris of building fell on the temporary shanties erected by building construction labourers. One victim named Bina Devi was preparing food using kerosene stove when the debris fell on it which caused her burn injuries on chest, both legs and both hands. She was rushed to State run G T Hospital.

"Building was served notice for eviction as it was in dilapidated state", said S D Ubale Station Officer of Grant Road Fire Brigade. Search for other victims if trapped under debris was continued by Fire Brigade Team.
