Heavy rain lashed Mumbai and its suburbs early Monday morning, resulting in widespread waterlogging on key roads and low-lying areas. This led to major traffic snarls across the city, crippling the normal life of residents. According to civic officials, the city recorded over 300 mm of rain at various places in just six hours, from 1 am to 7 am.

Several areas, including Andheri, Kurla, Bhandup, King's Circle, and Dadar, reported significant water accumulation. The incessant rain overwhelmed the storm drains, causing traffic to come to a standstill in many parts of India's financial capital.

Authorities have declared a holiday for the first session for all BMC, government, and private schools and colleges in the Mumbai (BMC area) to avoid inconvenience to students. The decision regarding the next session will be announced after reviewing the situation.

The heavy downpour also disrupted suburban train services, which are a lifeline for the city's commuters. Many BEST bus services were diverted from their regular routes due to the flooding, causing further inconvenience to the daily commuters.

In response to the severe weather conditions, the Central Railway cancelled several trains, including the MMR-CSMT (12110), Pune-CSMT (11010), Pune-CSMT Deccan (12124), Pune-CSMT Deccan (11007), and CSMT-Pune Intercity Express (12127).

The city remains on high alert as more heavy rain is expected throughout the day. Civic officials are continuously monitoring the situation to manage the impact of the weather on the city's infrastructure and public services.
