An FIR has been lodged against unidentified assailants in the alleged murder of Revati Singh, wife of senior BJP leader Hukkum Singh, police said today.
The body of Revati (75), wife of BJP deputy leader in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Hukkum Singh, was found in the bedroom
of her Gandhi colony house yesterday and circumstantial
evidence indicated that she was murdered, additional director
general of police Brij Lal had said.
Hukum Singh, an MLA from Kairana, was in Lucknow at the time of incident.
Police registered a case of loot and murder under section 394 and 302 of IPC in the murder case.
The ADG had said that a pillow and scarf were recovered from the bedroom where the body was recovered, and ruled out the possibility of murder for profit as all the belonging of Revati, including a gold chain, diamond earrings, bangles and her mobile phone were recovered from the room.
Meanwhile the state BJP president Surya Pratap Shahi criticised the ADGP for ruling out the possibility of murder for profit, saying it was an irresponsible statement to be issued before starting investigation.
The state BJP chief who arrived with Hukum Singh from Lucknow after incident, condemned the incident and demanded arrest of the culprits.
The BSP government has failed to maintain law and order situation in the state, he said.
