Chief minister Narendra Modi will address nearly 10,000 Gujaratis living in the US through video conferencing in
the wee hours of Sunday. The address is part of Gujarat Day celebration in the US, which has refused to give a visa for US travel to the chief minister for his government's failure to control riots in 2002.
According to officials, Modi will address Gujaratis and other Indians settled in US from Gandhinagar at 7 am IST on Sunday. In all, 12 major US cities will be simultaneously connected through video conferencing for Modi's address.
The main event will be organised at the Swaminarayan Temple in Secaucus in New Jersey. However, many other major US cities, such as New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Phoenix, Columbus, Orlando, Houston, Los Angeles and San Jose California, will see a telecast of the CM's address. The CM's address will also be telecast live in Toronto, Canada.
Modi will talk to NRGs and other Indians living in US about the progress of Gujarat in various sectors over the past decade or so.
Suresh Jani, one of the organisers of the function and a former office-bearer of American Indian Association of North America, said, "After Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, Narendra Modi is the leader who has made Gujarat famous across the world with his work. We have arranged his address for the third time as he is the leader of Gujarat and a Gujarati who has contributed a lot to the development of the state."
Modi's address will also be telecast on www.gujaratindia.com and www.narendramodi.in.
