The National Conference today welcomed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's support to Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah, saying it has encouraged the coalition government to handle the situation in the valley in a better manner.
"Gandhi's remarks have really encouraged the coalition government to handle the situation in a better manner", the spokesperson of the National Conference and MLC Ajay Sadhotra said in Jammu today.
"Gandhi has great acumen to comprehend each and every situation as he has very clearly pointed out that the J&K chief minister is handling a very difficult situation in the state," he said.
Rahul, while addressing a press conference in Kolkata, yesterday said, "The government has supported Omar Abdullah. National Conference is the party in power. He is a youngster. Kashmir is a difficult place. Omar is doing a tough job and he should be given time and support."
Sadhotra lauded the AICC general secretary for saying that Omar needs support and time to handle the delicate situation and said the coalition government led by National Conference with the support of Congress would definitely usher J&K towards progress and prosperity.
The National Conference leader said, "No doubt the present turmoil has affected development scenario of the state, but under the able and efficient leadership of Omar the state would definitely come out of this difficult situation."
