India said the international community must show "unwavering commitment in resolutely opposing" those who "nurture and give sanctuary" to terrorists and extremist elements.

In an apparent reference to Pakistan, India today said the international community must show "unwavering commitment in resolutely opposing" those who "nurture and give sanctuary" to terrorists and extremist elements.

This was conveyed by external affairs minister SM Krishna to British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who called the minister to reiterate an invitation for the Conference on Afghanistan, scheduled to be held in London on January 28, 2010.

"He (Krishna) conveyed India’s position that the international community must show unwavering commitment in resolutely opposing, resisting and overcoming terrorism and those who nurture, sustain and give sanctuary to terrorists and extremist elements," an official statement said here.

Krishna and Miliband also exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern.

The minister also underlined the importance of the international community reaffirming unambiguously its commitment to strengthening the Government of Afghanistan and continuing its support to the development and reconstruction of the country.

He also reiterated India’s determination to fulfil its commitments to the Afghan Government and people as they build a peaceful, democratic and pluralistic Afghanistan during the telephonic conversation.
