The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) recently disbanded and made arrests in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) cheating racket, and now, it has started making revelations regarding the scam involved in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021.
The CBI has started investigating the NEET 2021 cheating scam and is conducting searches in multiple locations to bust the racket involved in the case. The CBI has also made four arrests in the NEET cheating probe till now and is continuing its investigation.
The agency started its investigation with a Nagpur-based education service that sent out proxy candidates to the NEET 2021 exam centres to write the exam in place of the original students, who were charged around Rs 50 lakhs per candidate for the same.
According to media reports, those arrested in the case include owners of the accused company and middlemen involved in the NEET 2021 scam. The Nagpur-based R.K. Education Career Guidance run by one Parimal Kotpalliwar is being investigated in this probe.
As per reports, this company was involved in rigging the NEET 2021 examination, which was conducted on September 12 in physical mode. The accused were allegedly involved in promising students admissions in top medical colleges by using unfair means and charging them a sum of money.
The CBI FIR states, “They also use the process of mixing/morphing photographs to facilitate the use of proxy candidates for appearing in the examination. Copies of e-Aadhar cards of candidates are being collected for the purpose of making forged ID cards. He also assures candidates of providing answer keys and manipulating OMR sheets.”
The parents were asked to submit Post Dated Cheques of the total amount along with the mark sheets of Classes 10 and 12 as security, which were to be returned once the parents paid the full amount of Rs 50 lakhs to the institute involved.
Though the owner of the company has been arrested along with several middlemen, the proxy candidates who appeared for the exam have not been arrested yet. The CBI said that the trap they laid for the proxy candidates did not work out as the JEE probe most likely scared them off.
