To gauge the direction of political opinions in a crucial election year, a new mobile application, National Electoral Transformation or NETA app, was launched by former president Pranab Mukherjee here on Friday, in the presence of several political leaders. Launched by an entrepreneur Pratham Mittal, the app lets voters rate and review their political representatives. As per its makers, over 1.5 crore verified voters in India have already rated or reviewed their local leaders on the app in the last eight months.

The makers said that the app is fashioned on the Approval Ratings in the US, collecting opinions on the app, via VR calls and SMSes. It sends back feedback to leaders. The app was piloted during the Rajasthan bypolls in Ajmer and Alwar in February, and was used during the Karnataka assembly elections as well.
