NIA to revisit murder site of Samjhauta blast accused

Ramprasad Kalouta was allegedly murdered because of some financial dispute in the case which is under trial in a court while accused persons in the matter - Dharmendra Jat, Lakhan and Jeewan are out on the bail.

A team of National Investigative Agency (NIA) officials probing Samjhauta Express blast of 2007 recently visited Giroda village near Indore in connection with the murder of Ramprasad Kalouta who allegedly helped the late Sunil Joshi, an accused in different bomb blasts in the country, sources said.

Officials suspected that Kalouta had helped Joshi in different blasts and are probing whether his murder has any links with the Joshi murder case, police said.

Joshi was killed in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh in December 2007 while Kalouta's body was found near the railway track in a suspicious manner under Sanver police station area in June 2008.

Initially police thought that Kalouta had committed suicide but during detailed investigations it was found that he was murdered.

Giroda village was on the radar of Rajasthan ATS also following alleged involvement of Kalouta in the Ajmer Dargah blast, police said.

Meanwhile, Indore range inspector general (IG), Sanjay Rana told PTI that he has asked for records of Kalouta murder case in view of the NIA probing the issue.

Rana said that police is cooperating with the NIA and if the latter provides any fresh leads in the case, then it will further probe the case.

The NIA team reportedly quizzed Kalouta's family members, but the local police did not confirm it.
