A high-level meeting, chaired by chief minister Sheila Dikshit today deliberated on the possible alternative arrangements and decided to finalise it after taking views of the police.

The Delhi government will not construct a new foot overbridge outside Jawaharlal Nehru stadium and instead make arrangements in consultation with the Delhi police for entry of spectators to the venue.

A high-level meeting, chaired by chief minister Sheila Dikshit today deliberated on the possible alternative arrangements and decided to finalise it after taking views of the police.

An under-construction foot overbridge collapsed outside the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium yesterday injuring 27 people.

"We are making alternative arrangements," Dikshit said after the meeting.

The bridge, which was intended to be a showpiece and connect the parking lot of the stadium with other side of the street in Lodhi Road area in South Delhi, caved in when construction work was underway.
