No new positive case of swine flu was recorded in Gujarat in the last 24 hours but government hospitals remained busy as people came for the H1N1 virus test on the Independence Day today.
"No positive case today. Till yesterday, we had 33 positive cases of the H1N1 virus in the state," principal secretary health Ravi Saxena said.
Total 231 persons who were suspected of having H1N1 virus have undergone tests so far in the state, he said.
He said, "out of 128 persons, who were suspected and whose samples were sent for testing recently, 58 have tested negative while result in 70 such cases is awaited."
According to him, 45 patients (those having swine flu and even suspected cases) are currently admitted in the hospitals out which in 27 are in Ahmedabad, 5 in Surat and 13 in Vadodara.
Regarding the 70 cases whose results are awaited, he said, 31 cases are from Surat, 16 from Ahmedabad, 17 from Vadodara, 3 from Rajkot and one each from Himatnagar, Jamnagar and Bhavnagar.
Saxena said the health authorities have taken a number of measures which have helped contained the further spread of the virus in the state.
Swine flu has already claimed two lives in Gujarat, one from Vadodara and one from Ahmedabad.
