The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has once again courted controversy.
Ten of the 13 board of directors of the Rs8,000 crore GCMMF, passed a no confidence motion against chairman Parthi Bhatol on Thursday.
A meeting has been called on August 21 in this regard.
The ten directors, excluding those from Ahmedabad and Panchmahal, are pressurizing the chairman to put in his papers. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday, didn’t take place as only a few directors turned up, while the rest decided to boycott it.
The ten directors have unanimously sent a no-confidence motion letter against Bhatol on Thursday. However, the chairman is in no mood to give in to their demands. “I will not resign as the chairman of GCMMF under any circumstances. I cannot let 30 lakh farmers, 14,000 households in villages and Amul brand suffer,” Bhatol told DNA.
Although Bhatol seemed confident, he got a bit emotional as he said, “God is with me. Nothing will happen to me.”
