A Rs201 crore water supply project has been approved for the newly merged area of South-East zone of SMC. Nine villages of the zone will be benefited by the project, which will get operational in June 2010. The project has received nod under JNNURM and tenders are about to be floated for the work.
The project will cover a population of 2.2 lakh in nine villages of the zone. It has been designed as per the requirement of 2026, when the population is projected to increase to over 4.5 lakh.
JK Shah, hydraulic engineer of SMC said that work on the project would start after October and would be completed in June 2010. Tenders for the project would be floated shortly.
