The nominees of the ruling NDA and RJD-LJP combine, including former union minister Ramvilas Paswan, were set to be elected to the Rajya Sabha from Bihar today after independent candidate and Bangalore-based businessman BG Uday conceded defeat.

With Uday, whose presence in the fray necessitated the elections to the five Rajya Sabha seats from the state, conceding defeat, winning the polls has become an easy task for RJD-LJP nominees Paswan and Ramkripal Yadav besides BJP's
Rajiv Pratap Rudy and JD(U)'s R C P Singh and Upendra Prasad
Kushwaha.

"I have conceded defeat ... I can't survive in politics here. I will go back to Bangalore after congratulating the winners," Uday told reporters while leaving the polling centre at the state Assembly.

All the parties, save BSP, have issued whips asking their MLAs to vote for official nominees.

CPI with three MLAs has decided to support Paswan.
