Normalcy returned in Srinagar and other towns of Kashmir valley today after a two-day general strike sponsored by separatists.
All shops and business establishments, educational institutions, banks, courts and other establishments reopened in Srinagar and other major towns of the Valley this morning, officials said.
While a general strike was observed on October 27 against the 62nd anniversary of landing of Indian troops in Kashmir, life was crippled yesterday against the visit of prime minister Manmohan Singh. The two-day strike was called by hardline faction of Hurriyat headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and supported by various other separatist groups.
Work in government and semi-government offices, which was hit by the two-day strike, resumed today.
