NEW DELHI: Nirula's, Delhi's oldest fast food chain, soon plans to go national. It is now going to open its branch in Mumbai. On Friday, Nirula's, a family-owned business was handed over to a Malaysian food company Navis Capital Partner. Soon after the new acquisition, sources revealed that the rest of the country will enjoy a share of the prodigal Nirula's pie, till now a prerogative of Delhiites.

"In the next two-three years, we will open new outlets in all major parts of the country. The idea is to revive the Nirula's brand and make its presence felt across the country instead of restricting itself to the northern zone," a source said.

Moreover, the takeover also signifies a major revamp of all its outlets in Delhi. "Although we have decided to retain the name, we do plan to spruce up most of the outlets. The menu will also change but some of our flagship products like the Hot Chocolate Fudge and Big Boy Burger will not be struck off the menu," adds a company source.

Nirula's, which was run by cousins Lalit and Deepak Narula, finally sold the fast food chain for 90 crores to Navis on Friday. Sameer Kukreja, a relative of the original owners, is now going to be the Indian face of the company. Kukreja has retained a share of the company. Kukreja had worked with his uncles earlier but had subsequently left Nirula's to work with other fast food companies including Mars restaurants.
