A Chennai-bound Oman Air flight from Muscat was diverted to the Mumbai airport today after its commander fell sick, an airport official said.

The aircraft landed safely under full emergency conditions at 5.42 pm, the official said.

"Full emergency was declared at 5.31 pm for Oman Air flight WY-253 (Muscat-Chennai). The flight was diverted to Mumbai as the commander fell ill onboard," Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) spokesperson said.

The pilot was shifted to a local hospital soon after the flight landed, the spokesperson said, adding the emergency was withdrawn at 5.53 pm.
