Doctors rule out foul play after he goes into ICU.

Pravin Mahajan, 50, who is serving a life term for the murder of his brother and BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, was on Saturday put on a life support system after he slipped into  coma. Doctors described his condition as “critical”.

Mahajan was admitted to Thane’s Jupiter Hospital on Friday night after he complained of fatigue and severe headache, which was later diagnosed as brain haemorrhage.

Dr Ravindra Gavat, in-charge of ICU, said, “He is under medical management for releasing the pressure on the brain because of the blood clot.”

Mahajan was on a 14-day parole from Nashik Central Jail. Saturday, coincidentally, was the last day of his parole, and he was set to return to prison. Asked about the possibility of any foul play, Dr Gavat ruled it out. “There is no external wound. The cause of brain haemorrhage is probably hypertension,” the doctor said. High BP was recorded when he arrived in hospital.
