The students and staff of the Trio World School extended their hearts a little farther this Valentine’s Day. More specifically, the school community was thinking of the people of Haiti and their dire state due to the earthquake on January 12, which affected their country to a great extent.
Although these people are thousands of kilometres from Bangalore, the community service extra-curricular group was not discouraged. Realising Trio’s ability to help despite odds, they sold candy-grams and roses in the week leading to Valentine’s Day and even held a bake sale on the day of the celebrations. These efforts helped the school raise nearly Rs15,000 towards the Haitian relief fund.
However, the fundraising efforts haven’t stopped at that. Each Trio student is currently raising funds in their home communities by selling tickets. The intention of these fundraising tickets is not only to collect additional donations but also spread awareness on the calamity that has befallen Haiti.
A non-uniform day was also held on February 19, when students were allowed to come dressed in casual clothing if they contributed Rs20 to the cause. And as donations continue to pour in, the students and staffers at the Trio World School are ensuring that a helping hand is lent to Haiti, halfway across the world.
By working on local, national and global community service projects, Trio hopes to connect with everybody – thereby supporting its motto of being Truly International.
