E-voting had not generated much enthusiasm among the voters. The charm for the innovative way of voting wore off further as only 124 voters tried their hands at e-voting against the registered 183 voters.
Among the e-voters in the six municipal corporations that went to polls - the highest e-votes were cast in Surat where 59 voters opted for e-voting followed by 40 in Ahmedabad. Jamnagar and Rajkot saw 10 and 9 people vote through e-voting.
Vadodara, which registered only 1 e-vote, had also seen poor response during the practice for e-vote. The State Election Commission had spent Rs3 crore to start the e-voting in state. Chairman, SEC- KC Kapoor had told DNA that the expense incurred for E-voting will not go waste.
"Once we have developed the facility and software, we will be able to use it in the coming years as well. The number of people opting for e-voting will increase in the future."
