Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial Hindi film Padmavati will release on January 25 as Padmavat. It was earlier slated for release on December 1 but got stuck amid protests against distorted historical facts related to the Rajput community. The Censor Board later cleared the movie with some modifications.
Rajasthan's home minister Gulabchand Katariya, however, said that the film will not be allowed to release in the state.
Rajput Karni Sena also demanded for a complete ban on the film. Protesters have said the alleged depiction of romance between legendry Hindu queen Padmini and Delhi Sultanate ruler Alauddin Khilji insults the Rajput community
The modifications include a disclaimer that does not claim historical accuracy, modifications in the song "Ghoomar" to make the depiction befitting the character being portrayed, correcting incorrect/misleading references to historical places, and a disclaimer that says the film doesn't subscribes to the practice of Sati or seeks to glorify it.
