India today said that the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), linked to the 2001 attack on Parliament and the beheading of US journalist Daniel Pearl, has set up a large new base outside Bahawalpur town in Pakistan's Punjab province with anti-India inscription on its walls.
"JeM has acquired a 4.5 acre compound outside the city of Bahawalpur (Punjab, Pakistan) in addition to the madrassa named Usman-o-Ali inside the city of Bahawalpur," minister of state for home Ajay Maken informed Rajya Sabha.
The minister said though the local authorities in Pakistan acknowledge that JeM has spread out of the city, they state that the new acquisition is a cattle farm to supply milk to the Jaish seminaries.
"JeM militants openly operate two imposing boarding schools in Bahawalpur viz. Dar-ul-uloom Madina school and Usman-o-Ali school," he said in reply to a written question of Rajya Sabha member Nandi Yellaiah.
