Pakistan's Interior Minister Rehman Malik, on his way to Bhutan to attend a SAARC meet, on Friday tweeted his greetings to "Indian brothers and sisters" saying the two countries wanted peace for coming generations.
"My best wishes from Dehli (sic) to my Indian brothers and sisters. We all want peace and nothing but peace for coming generations," he said during a transit halt in Delhi.
In another tweet, the Pakistani Minister said "media needs to play its vital role for peace in this region".
Malik was on his way to Thimpu to attend the three-day conference of the SAARC Home Ministers.
Home Minister P Chidambaram will join Saturday's ministerial meeting. Chidambaram and Malik may have a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Thimphu meeting.
