Parents should be given the power to suspend teachers: Manish Sisodia

After a surprise visit to a government school on Monday, Delhi Education and Urban Development Minister Manish Sisodia said that he was extremely disappointed by the inspection and that parents need to be given powers to suspend principals and teachers, as one minister could not correct all the schools in Delhi alone.

"Children here are themselves teaching and conducting exams. This is really unfortunate and unacceptable, we will definitely take action against this," said Sisodia.

"But the real action will be when the parents of these children will be given the power. They need to be given powers to suspend and remove principals and teachers," he said.

"One director or education minister cannot correct more than 3000 schools in the city. The system must be decentralized," he added.

Sisodia also examined the quality of the mid-day meals and said that he found insects in it and added that the quality of the food was very poor.

After interacting with students, he said that he was told the principal and teachers do not come to school on time.

He also promised that strict action would be taken against the school and the teachers.
