Disgraced Congress leader Narayan Dutt Tiwari has failed to get protection from the Supreme Court (SC) against the legal proceedings initiated by young lawyer Rohit Shekhar, who claims to be his biological son.

The Delhi high court (HC) had on April 6 asked him to file a reply to Shekhar’s charge, failing which he would have to face the DNA test to verify Shekhar’s claims.

Tiwari on Monday urged SC to hear urgently his lawsuit in which he claimed that Shekhar’s plea had been erroneously admitted by HC. But the court didn’t find any urgency in the matter and rejected his plea.

HC had observed that as per Tiwari’s own admission, his relations with Shekhar and his mother were cordial and affectionate between 1980 and 1995.

Therefore, there was no reasonable cause for Shekhar to be apprehensive that Tiwari would not continue to perform all the duties expected of a natural father. Shekhar had alleged Tiwari of neglecting him and his mother Ujjwala Sharma after 1995. He said Tiwari refused to meet them after becoming Uttaranchal chief minister.
