People in Manipur are bearing the brunt of Naga students' protests as petrol is being sold at Rs150 per litre while cooking gas at Rs720 per cylinder following non-availability of essential items in the state due to blockade at NH 39, official sources said today.
"Since no petrol or cooking gas can be brought, petrol is being sold at Rs150 per litre while cooking gas at Rs720," the sources said, adding that every effort was being made to check these prices.
All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM) had been blocking the National Highway 39 for more than three weeks to protest against the state government's proposal to hold elections to autonomous district councils, the sources said.
"ANSAM has been blocking the highways and as a result no essential item is brought into Manipur during the period," they said.
