A city advocate today moved the Madras high court seeking a CBI probe into complaints filed against self-styled godman Nithyananda Swami for his alleged sleazy acts.
After hearing the petition, justice R Reghupathi issued a notice to the Tamil Nadu government and posted the petition for further hearing to March 24.
R Karthikeyan, the advocate, said Nityananda's act has hurt his religious sentiments and claimed that the swami had about 45 lakh devotees in 17 countries.
He contended that some cases have also been registered against Nityananda and his accomplices in Karnataka and prayed that all the complaints be handed over to CBI for investigation.
Karthikeyan said he came to know about the activities of the 'self proclaimed' swami from Tamil bi-weekly 'Nakheeran' on March 3 and had then met the city police commissioner and forwarded a complaint.
