Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday took the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Taking to Twitter, the PM urged those who are eligible for the vaccine to take it.

He also lauded the doctors and scientists for their quick response to defeat the coronavirus.

"Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS. Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19. I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free!," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive for people above 60 years and those aged 45 and above with comorbidities begins from March 1.

Citizens can register and book an appointment for vaccination, using the Co-WIN 2.0 portal or through other IT applications such as Arogya Setu.

Registrations for COVID-19 vaccination on the Co-WIN 2.0 portal will open at 9 am Monday at www.Cowin.Gov.In.
