Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of betraying the people of the country by not fulfilling the promise of containing "sky-rocketing inflation".
"PM Modi has been exposed. The common man is under the burden of sky-rocketing inflation. Crude oil prices reduced in international market but the benefit was not passed on to the people, instead excise duty was increased," Gehlot said.
He also accused the government of protecting Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in the Lalit Modi controversy.
"Hardik Patel is a youth and he was booked in Gujarat under charges of sedition whereas this action should have been taken against Rajasthan CM Raje. But unfortunately, no action is being taken against her," he said, while alleging that the Modi government was targeting Congress leaders.
"It is not possible without the nod of PM Modi. This trend is very dangerous," he said.
On the National Herald issue, Gehlot said that Modi's intention was not good. "National herald issue shows the difference between words and deeds of PM Modi," Gehlot alleged.
